EAST MEN’S LEAGUE DIVISION TWO NORTH: Cambridge Nomads 2 Bury St Edmunds 2: Relegated Bury St Edmunds put in a spirited display to claim a share of the spoils against high-flying Cambridge Nomads.

Having fallen behind to a short corner routine, Bury’s defensive unit of Peter Skidmore, James Mayhew, Tom Campbell-Todd and Tom Rash ensured the hosts did not extend their advantage, before the visitors found a way back into the game courtesy of Nic Ciappi’s penalty.

Bury came out for the 
second half with renewed 
vigour and took the lead as Owen Grisby found Steve Jackson, who weaved his way into the D before slotting the ball home.

Despite the best efforts of goalkeeper Eddie Gibson, Bury were to be denied victory as 10 minutes from the end of the contest Nomads found an equaliser.

Bury’s defence of Will Took, Joe Tasker, Louis Dowling and Louie Totten kept a clean sheet, while their front line of Paul Lawrence, Ian Konrath and Paul Whitting caused the visitors plenty of problems.

n Bury III came from behind to see off Ipswich III in Division Five North East.

Josh Phillips smashed in the equaliser after Rob 
Johnson’s shot had been saved and Phillips scored again when he latched on to a clearance from Johnson, beat the last defence and dispatched his strike past the goalkeeper.

n Bury V thrashed Harleston Magpies VII 6-0 in Division Six North East.

Harry Gale’s strike into the circle was deflected home for the Suffolk side’s first goal, which was added to by efforts from Mark Dykes, Ben Gale and Tony Bass before the interval.

Dykes doubled his tally after the interval and Adrian Moulam rounded off the scoring.
