Bury St Edmunds Men’s Second and Fifth teams secured promotion with victories at the weekend.

The Thirds are still in the promotion hunt, but the First and Fourths are battling against relegation.

In East Men’s League Division Two North Bury I won a crucial match 3-1 at City of Peterborough. Niki Ciappi, Charlie Long and Tom Dykes got the goals.

The battle against relegation continues with a crunch match at Ipswich II tomorrow.

Bury II beat Pelican 6-2 in Division Four North East, with a hat-trick from Paul Whiting, two from Dom Kavanagh, and one from David Chiang.

With five games left, Bury are now chasing leaders IES III, who are three points ahead.

Bury III fought back from 3-0 down to beat Sudbury III 5-4 in Division Five North East. Scorers were JoJo Anstee-Parry, Paul Lawrence, Michael Thompson, Max Whittaker and Ben Gales. Bury are six points clear at the top.

Bury IV, fielding several junior players, scored from their first two attacks in this Division Five North East home derby against Thetford.

Bury won 4-1 with a hat-trick from Briggs and one from Jones. Gibson saved a penalty flick.

Two goals from Mark Hollingsworth and one from Nick Drake saw Bury V secure a hard-earned 3-0 victory at Norwich City VII in Division Six North East and clinch promotion. They lead the table by 13 points.

Bury VI were beaten 7-0 at Division Seven North East leaders Sudbury IV. They trailed 6-0 at the interval.

Bury Ladies I won 2-1 at home to Framlingham in East Ladies League Division Two North East. Jo Chapman gave them a first-half lead, Sharon Holton scoring in the second, Framlingham replying late on.

Bury Ladies II lost 3-0 at home to IES in Division Two North East, but Bury Ladies III won 4-3 at Cambridge South II in Division Four North West (South).
