Suffolk Police overcame Moreton A in a final-day title decider to clinch the West Suffolk League Division One crown for the first time.

In a winner-takes-all encounter between the league’s
leading two sides, Holly Evans and Sarah Cole helped Police to a 49-42 victory, despite the best efforts of Moreton’s Leanne Peters and Helen Griffiths.

Outgoing champions Priors A finished with a 47-24 win over Thetford A to take third, but Haverhill A and Priors B dropped out of the division after final-day defeats.

Cockfield A completed a perfect Division Two campaign with 10 wins from 10 and they will be joined in the top flight by Breckland A, but Moreton C and Pink Ladies were relegated.

RMG and Jetts B secured promotion from Division Three after triumphing in the final round of matches.

Amy Linton and Melissa Sharp helped RMG see off Cockfield B 40-36 to clinch the title, while Kate Ferdinand and Molly Robson led Jetts B to a 33-26 victory over Haverhill B.

There was also real drama at the other end of the table.

Breckland B’s 32-24 reverse against Walsham, coupled with Jubilee B’s 52-33 triumph over already-relegated Panthers, saw Jubilee leapfrog Breckland to survival.

Division Four’s matches were already complete, but two teams who can look forward to competing at that level next season are Jetts D and Cockfield C.

Aoife Doherty and Izzy King helped Jetts just about overcome Priors D 30-26 to
top the Division Five standings.

Jubilee Magpies maintained their perfect record through to their final match as Leanne Mills and Mandy Airy helped them defeat fellow promoted side Stow Diamonds 25-18 to secure their 10th win from 10 matches played this season.

Carla Edwards and Jemma Dunn were on form for the Diamonds, but it was not enough.

In the junior leagues, Jetts proved their future continues to look bright as the Diamonds and the Emeralds sparkled to top their divisions with perfect records.

The Diamonds secured their ninth win from nine matches this season as Ruby Doherty and Chloe Turvey helped them overcome Thetford II in Zena’s Under-14s Division.

Ellie Allen and Ceri Flye were named the players of the match as the Emeralds matched their older counterparts by seeing off Moreton Reds 26-9 in Paula’s Under-12s Division.

Thetford III secured their first win of the season in their final match in Zena’s Division as Rhiannon Weatherley and Charlotte Colville helped them to a 23-13 success over Cockfield II.
