Larkwood has seen big changes this week with manager Ian McGregor taking over ownership of the fishery.
Previous owner Allen Woods developed Larkwood in 1984 and opened for business in 1985 at which time the fishery was primarily a fish farm that supplied various supermarket chains over a large area of East Anglia.
McGregor became a regular angler at Larkwood in 1988, having previously worked abroad as tool maker, and became manager and partner at Larkwood in 1991.
Woods moved away 15 years ago and has now decided to retire as proprietor at the ripe old age of 92.
This change in ownership will now enable Larkwood — which hosts West Stow and Glebe lakes — to inject new capital into the fishery, allowing it to increase the stocking policy, which — along with its new 8am opening time — should give anglers a more flexible and enjoyable day.
n Places are going fast for Blackdyke Trout Fishery’s Charles Jardine experience on Saturday, May 24, at £50 a head for the day limited to 10 people — ring 07525730447 to book a place.
Buzzers are still taking most fish this week with small hatches of drys.
With sedges and hawthorns hatching off, hopefully there will be some top-of-the-water action soon.
