Moreton win top-of-the-table clash

Moreton Hall A extended their lead by a point at the top of the West Suffolk Netball League after a 38-37 victory saw them end Priors A’s unbeaten run.

Defending champions Priors dropped to third place, but with a game in hand, after inspired performances from Moreton’s Alice Sadler and Sally Harris stretched their lead to five points.

Suffolk Police rose to second as Victoria Rose and Chloe Crame starred in a 46-38 win over sixth-placed Burwell.

Cheryl Hutchins and Laura Herriott helped Jetts A extend the gap to bottom side Priors B, who have a game in hand, to five points after a 44-33 win over them.

Thetford A were convincing 52-38 winners in a mid-table clash against Haverhill A, in which Charlotte Olley and Phillipa Auckland put in standout displays.

In Division Two, Breckland A moved up to second, six points behind leaders Cockfield A, with a 51-34 win over Moreton B, with some precise shooting from Holly Dixon and Hannah Murdoch and strong defensive work from Becky Bell and Claire Lock.

Thetford B dropped to fifth following a 42-24 defeat to Cockfield A, while Stowmarket II also suffered defeat, losing 38-33 to Jubilee A, who moved up to third.

The other game saw Moreton C recorded a 50-33 win over bottom side Pink Ladies.

In Division Three, Jubilee B ended league leaders Haverhill B’s perfect record with Rachel Harrington and Karen Emsden instrumental in a hard-fought 26-20 win.

Jetts B recorded a 40-22 win over lowly Breckland B, while bottom side Panthers lost 48-21 to third-placed Walsham and RMG narrowly overcame Cockfield B 33-30.

Good performances from Priors C’s Hayley Sykes and Shari Gardiner could not stop Jetts C clocking up their seventh straight win in Division Four, with a 40-31 success.

Bottom side Phoenix lost 37-24 defeat to mid-table Rougham Harriers, while Stowmarket and Haverhill C also tasted victory.

Division Five leaders Cockfield C ended Jetts B’s unbeaten run to extend their lead to seven points, despite brave displays from Izzy King and Hannah Chadwick and Thetford C recorded a commanding 54-24 victory over Breckland C.

Division Six leaders Jubilee Magpies ended challengers Stow Diamond’s unbeaten run in a 32-14 win.

There was some excellent assits from Mandy Aiey and Millie Sparks-Shepherd and good interceptions from Mimi Black, Esther Little and Dawn Gaforg.

Jubilee Jays were edged out 26-19 by Cockfield E, while there were also wins for Bardwell and Cockfield D.

Jetts Diamonds enjoyed a big 65-1 win over Thetford III in Zena’s Under-14s Division with Olivia Brill and Chloe Turvey putting in player-of-the-match displays.

Kudzi Garikayi and Abbie Farrow starred in Thetford’s 60-15 victory over Jetts Pearls.

Moreton Red’s winning run at the top of Paula’s Under-12s Division continued with Ruby Cooper and Isobel Davies playing well in a 21-16 win over Moreton Blue.

Moreton Green beat Cockfield II 24-12 with good displays from Annie Smith and Molly Ager, while Jetts Emeralds’ 26-0 over Jetts Opals was in no small part due to Holly Dryland and Ellie Allen.
