Young People Afloat, the children’s sailing club and one of the youth group members of St Edmundsbury Sailing and Canoeing Association, held their last event of the season at Lackford Lake on Saturday.

The annual regatta was attended by 25 youngsters, who raced Optimist, Topper and RS Feva dinghies and participated in a range of other fun water-based activities.

Prizes were presented to the winners of each group, Lucy Curwen, Samantha Miles and Bethan Bradshaw.

Miles, the overall winner, was presented with the Regatta Cup.

Club racing continued with the Indian Summer series on Sunday, with Tim Perree (Laser) winning the first race, followed by Chris Styles (Comet), Sheila Norman (Topper) and Nick and Imogen Collier (Topper).

Perree and Mike Steele had a close battle at the front in their Lasers until Steele managed to break away and take victory in race two, with Norman third and Styles fourth.

Steele (Laser) finished first in the third race with Geoff Morris (Solo) second, after holding off the challenge from Kieron Adams (Laser).
