Two Mildenhall Cycling Club members who have clocked up 100 years consecutive membership between them were honoured at a big celebration on Sunday.
In 1964 Dave Sennitt and Harvey Wright both joined Mildenhall and District Cycling Club, as it was known then, and have remained members ever since.
Although Sennitt no longer rides, Wright still participates in many of the events the Mildenhall club holds.
Both are active members of the club’s organising committee for the highly successful Mildenhall Cycling Rally, which the club holds every year over the August Bank Holiday weekend.
Nearly one hundred current and ex-members, friends and family members gathered to join in the celebration in their honour at West Row Village Hall.
Club chairman Mark Burchett said: ”In today’s world it is becoming increasingly hard to find such loyalty and it is a real pleasure to be here to honour Dave and Harvey, who have been members of our club for 50 consecutive years.
“During the last 50 years they have proudly worn the Mildenhall colours in representing us not only across the Eastern region, but further afield as well.
“They now join a very elite group within the club and together with Dave Bowers, between the three of them have 155 years of membership.”
Club president Peter Bentley presented them with a photo book charting their respective lives over the 50 years.
Members Jean Poole and Viv Bowers also put together a display of photographs and old records.
