THE leading junior runners at Saint Edmund Pacers have been in action both for their county and their county schools.
Matthew Le Poidevin recorded an impressive result at the English Schools Cross Country Championships, held at Ilton, Somerset.
He was fourth Suffolk runner to finish in 122nd spot, while fellow Pacer Ieuan Alldis was 322nd.
In the intermediate girls’ race, Emma Watts was fourth Suffolk runner home in 193rd spot, followed by Pacers’ club mates Emily Strickland (245th) and Alice Maguire (252nd).
Gemma Grose finished 255th in the junior girls’ event.
Meanwhile, at the Inter-Counties Championships, held in Birmingham, Grose was 202nd in the colours of Suffolk in the under-13 girls’ section.
Le Poidevin was 185th in the under-15 boys’ age group, Emma Watts finished 177th in the under-15 girls’ race, and Robert Smailes was 208th in the under-17 men’s section.
Emily Strickland also ran in the under-15s, although she was spiked in the foot on the start line, which slowed her to a final finish of 237th.
Alice Maguire was a strong 211th in the under-17 women’s event, and Claire Hoblyn was 222nd in the senior women’s race.
