Lankenheath greyhound handler Mark Wallis spoke of his joy at ending a long standing hoodoo as Patchys Kerry became the first ever ante-post favourite to win the Ladbrokes Golden Jacket final at Crayford on Tuesday.
The firm favourite showcased her credentials with a devastating display in the 714m final as she raced well clear to take victory by over six lengths ahead of Diesel Flo in 44.94 seconds, scooping the £17,500 jackpot in the process.
“The result is a fantastic one for everyone at the Imperial Kennels,” he said.
“She is just an awesome bitch and her winning it from the beginning of the night was never in doubt; she has been just phenomenal throughout.
“It is great to buck a trend and break that hoodoo in what is one of the biggest races on the calendar.”
