JETTS Netball Club celebrated the end of a great year by receiving the Club Action Planning Scheme (CAPS) — Bronze.

Joint club manager/head coach Mandy Smart said: “We have hit all the areas — new players, competition, community partnership, development of young officials and that’s only some of it. It has definitely been a team effort on and off the court.”

The success this year has included competitive junior and senior netball in both the summer and winter West Suffolk Netball Leagues, fielding four senior teams in the summer and two junior teams in Zena’s Division. The club’s four teams are currently competing in the winter league.

In addition, club members received awards this year. The Suffolk Netball Rose Bowl (Outstanding Services to Netball in Suffolk) was awarded to Tracey Butcher, joint club manager/head coach.

Haydn Gross, Mary Watson and Connie Gibbs received the Abbeycroft Sports Award for Community Young Volunteers of the Year.

During 2012, the club hope to increase their coaching numbers from five to seven and continue to offer a Sunday morning session at County Upper School for women who want to get back into the sport (9.30am).

The Jetts will be holding a mixed team netball tournament in aid of St Nicholas Hospice Care.
