Race ace Josh Webster may have missed out on the McLaren Autosport BRDC award, but he is determined to be a success in GP3 next year.
The 18-year-old, from Mickfield, near Stowmarket, is finalising his budget to compete in the series, which is two rungs from Formula One and races on its undercard during the European season, including at places such as Monaco and Spa-Francorchamps.
After learning Jake Dennis had pipped him to the award, Webster said on Twitter: “Thanks for everyone’s support! Unfortunately didn’t win the award but nothing is stopping me from being P1 in 2013 in GP3. #BringIt.”
The first two GP3 series winners, Esteban Gutierrez (2010) and Valterri Bottas (2011), have just earned race seats for 2013, at Sauber and Williams respectively.
