Inspired swimming from Stowmarket

Six Stowmarket swimmers put in some inspired displays at the Norfolk Masters Open Sprints Meet, held at Norwich UEA, winning 22 medals.

Top performances came from Dale Barker, who stormed to victory in the 50-54 years’ category 50 metres front crawl, 50m backstroke and 100m individual medley (IM).

He also won silver in the 50m breaststroke.

Len Phoenix won two golds in the 60-64 years’ 50m back and 50m fly, and a brace of bronze in the 50m front crawl and 50m breaststroke.

Meanwhile, Tom Harrison and Ollie Bumstead renewed their rivalry in the 30-34 years’ category with both claiming two gold and two silver medals.

Harrison claimed his gold medals in the front crawl and breaststroke, while Bumstead pipped him in the fly and individual medley (IM).

Andy Wright swam in all five events in the 55-59 years’ category claiming silver in the 50m back, breast and 100 IM, while also securing two bronze medals in the 50m breast and front crawl.

Clive Mitson put in some superb swims in the 40-44 years’ age group and was rewarded with two bronze medals in the 50m breast and 100m IM.
