Although they were forced to field a depleted team, County Upper battled hard and stuck in the game to pull off a hard-fought 67-61 victory.
It was not until the second quarter that County Upper were able to build a comfortable lead.
They increased their lead to 18 points at the start of the second half, but were unable to sustain this momentum as fatigue set in.
The hosts cut County Upper’s lead to just three points, but the team dug deep to hold on to victory.
The next test for the team is a meeting with second-placed Southend Swifts.
County Upper under-14 girls suffered a disappointing 73-59 defeat at third-placed Northamptonshire Titans.
It was always going to be a tough game, but one where County pushed the home team in all areas across the court.
County Upper always found themselves chasing the game. They were lead in scoring by Reiley Kenck with 23 points, supported by Mikaela Cregger and Alex Popova with 15 points and seven points respectively.
The team, who have seven wins and as many losses for the season, travel to play Brentwood Leopards this weekend.
