Some of world’s darting elite took part in the biggest ever Bury Open competition earlier this month as Norfolk-based PDC star James Hubbard took the glory.

The 2012 World Youth champion hit double 8 to secure the crown with a 5-3 Simon ‘Mr Angry’ Cassidy, who had defeated former professional Lionel Sams en-route to the final. The fifth incarnation of the event saw prize money increase to £1,000, with the field of players jumping from 128 to 160, while PDC competitors Darren ‘Demilition Man’ Webster, Pete Dyos, Hadleigh’s Curtis Hammond, Nathan Derry and Jason Lovett all made an appearance.

Hubbard tweeted after the win: “Very pleased, Bury Open champ £1000 better off.”
