PIPPA Horn has failed in her bid to defend her AEGON British Junior National title after crashing out in the last 16 of the under-18 competition to Ella Taylor today.
West Harling’s Horn won the tournament as a wildcard last year, becoming the country’s youngest ever junior national champion in the process.
But the teenager — seeded fourth this year — was defeated 7-5, 6-4 by unseeded Taylor in round two, having seen off qualifier Miranda Cooney in the first round on Monday.
Horn will be looking for doubles glory when she partners Ruth Seaborne this week. Together, they are the top seeds.
