Fishing at Larkwood has proved inconsistent due to the high temperatures and bright weather but fish are still being taken very deep with bloodworm, black buzzer or damsel being the best bet.
A holiday visitor, David Springfield had the best fish this week, a beautiful condition rainbow of around 10lbs 5oz, which he kindly returned.
Meanwhile, a few fish are showing in the evening, but there is not enough surface fly life to keep them up on the top. This however should improve as the season progresses and the water temperature cools.
As spaces are limited due to holiday time, beginners courses are getting booked up, while the fishery is also holding parent and child beginners’ ticket. Anyone interested in reserving a spot or further information should call Ian McGregor on 07776 370348.
n There has again proved some good fishing at Blackdyke trout fishery over the past week with most people catching around the aerators from the bank or boats. Small nymphs are taking most fish.
Eyebrook tackle shop will be visiting the fishery on Sunday, August 17 with anglers able to try the new Hardy Shadow fly rod.
Wendy Gibson will also be at the fishery over the bank holiday (August 25) offering tips along with any materials anglers may need.
