Hard work is rewarded by selection call

After a year of trials and training, Mike Harman, Martin Cates, Lauren Attride, Jordan Farrelly, Max van den Oort and Sam Nicholson have been selected to represent the UK at the Geneva Indoor Tchoukball Tournament, to be held in Geneva next month

They all play for Bury St Edmunds Tchoukball Club, with Harman and Cates representing national champions Bury Kings, and Attride, van den Oort, Nicholson and Farrelly representing Bury Saints at National and Regional League fixtures.

Mike Harman has been selected by Tchoukball UK to coach the UK Lions team, which will include Attride, van den Oort, Nicholson and Farrelly. Martin Cates will be playing for the UK Men’s National Team.

The tournament is one of the largest open indoor tournaments in Europe and the UK Lions will take part in both the Elite and Nations Cup tournaments.

Sam Nicholson and Jordan Farrelly take part in their second tournament representing Team UK, after their debut in last year’s World Youth Tchoukball Championships held in Traiskirchen, Austria.

Max van den Oort and Lauren Attride make their debuts for Team UK, after passing through four rounds of UK training this year.

The squad is looking for sponsorship to help pay for the trip. Any interested parties can contact the club via email at burystedmunds@tchoukball.org.uk
