GOLFERS braved the elements over the Easter holiday period to complete a roll-up stableford tournament at Diss Golf Club.

The three-day tournament started with 59 men teeing off on the Saturday.

Robert Tooke and Tony Osborn led the first day standings (Saturday) with 41 points apiece, closely followed by Darren Maskell on 40 and Kevin White on 39.

The second day started off brightly in terms of weather and performances for the early starters, but as the weather worsened, so did the scoring.

Ian Withers, Adrian Mitson and Stephen Grimwade all recorded 39 points, but Barry Smith moved clear of the field with a stunning 43 points

Monday, the third and final day of the tournament, suffered the worst of the weather and only 11 hardy golfers braved the rain.

However, the round of the weekend was shot by junior James Biggs, who recorded 42 points off a handicap of four, a gross two under par round of 68, but Barry Smith held on to claim overall victory.

Meanwhile, on the Easter Friday, there was better weather and an excellent turnout for Friday’s Easter Texas Scramble, a mixed team event won by the in-form Sandra Bowman with her husband and new members, Monica and Bruce Dorringhton, with a net score of 55.7.
