There were some good results at Larkwood last week, especially for first-time angler Geoff Langton.
He took 11 rainbow trout to 3lb, most of which were taken using various small nymphs, fished static a foot below the surface.
The best fish of the week was a perfectly-finned rainbow of around 8lb, which was returned.
The fish still have not switched on to lures yet, probably due to the temperature of the water, which is seven degrees warmer than this time last year.
Any flies small and sparse will do the trick, especially diawl bach and red buzzers.
Both lakes are very clear and should stay that way throughout the winter.
n After a large restocking this week, several anglers caught into double figures at Blackdyke Trout Fishery at the weekend, most taking limit bags.
Floating lines with lures, blobs and small crunchers took lots of fish.
A great day was had by all on Sunday at the Charles Jardine tuition day and there will be another with him in the spring.
