A festival atmosphere greeted clubs as they converged on a brimming Robinson Field for Thurston RUFC’s Social Sevens Tournament.

The games were played in the spirit of social rugby as eight sides gave spectators memorable moments of skill and pace.

The more experienced Sevens teams played their way to the finals, with Stowmarket Spartans winning the Sevens Plate final and a formidable RAF Honington winning the Cup after beating Thurston Love Ninjas.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the table, Bardwellians avoided the wooden spoon, narrowly finishing ahead of The Donks.

After the rugby action had finished, teams moved inside for a number of bar-related games, with the tables being turned as Stowmarket and RAF Honington ended up at bottom of the pile.

The final ended up between Thurston Barbarians and the Silverbacks with the scores from both competitions totalled up, it revealed the winner who would take Vooght Trophy as overall tournament winners.

The younger Barbarians side put up a good fight but the Thurston veterans eventually came through as winners.

The night was finished with live music from local band GLU, with the tournament winners showing more dynamic moves on the dance floor than they did on the turf.
