Thetford Dolphins’ junior team took first place in round two of the Junior Fenland League held at Newmarket.
The club’s under-13s scored 162 points, ahead of City of Peterborough B, with 156, Mildenhall 149, West Norfolk 105 and the hosts Bottisham, with 69.
The third event saw Benjamin Trowell take the Dolphins’ first win of the evening for the under-13s in the 50m backstroke, followed by a first for Harry Fasey, one of the team’s youngest swimmers, in the nine-year category 50m freestyle.
The first win for the girls came from Alice Fasey in the under-12 50m freestyle.
The club went on to take a further 12 first places, 12 seconds and nine thirds and achieved 25 personal bests across the 45 events.
On March 28, the club entered two teams in the Norfolk County Relay Gala held at Sportspark, UEA, Norwich. Competing against West Norfolk, Norwich Swan, UEA City of Norwich, Dereham, North Norfolk Vikings, Diss and Great Yarmouth, the Dolphins’ A team finished in seventh place overall. The club came away with trophies for 13 top-six places.
It was a good night for the boys 11/12 years relay team comprising of Alfie King, Daniel Clark, Toby Szczerbicki and Nathan Sullivan/ Charlie Trowell, who broke club records in both the freestyle and medley relays.
