Difficult opening weekend for Webster

Have your say

Mickfield race ace Josh Webster endured a testing start to life in the GP3 Series at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona at the weekend.

The teenager did not finish either of the two races thanks to a combination of throttle issues and a spin into the gravel trap when trying to push to combat his mechanical problems.

The Nine Group-sponsored Status GP driver had qualified 25th, but was set for a better grid position until the first of his issues hit and then retired on lap six of race one before spinning out of race two with three laps remaining.

The event was on the undercard of Formula One’s Spanish Grand Prix, won by home favourite Fernando Alonso.
