THE hottest talent in the freestyle motorcross world lit up Rougham Airfield at the weekend with a breathtaking display of daredevil stunts.
Bikes took to the skies with their riders flipping around their machines in mid-air in an awesome spectacle of bravery and ability on display on Saturday night.
A large crowd turned out to see the Bolddog FMX (Freestyle Motorcross) Championship clinched by home rider Chris Birch, from Haverhill, as he twisted and turned his way to the title.
The fearless Redbull X-fighters rider shot 40ft up into the sky and had the crowd holding their breath as he leapt over 80ft gaps to win the event.
Judges marked the British number one’s performance ahead of fellow professional bikers Jamie Squibb and Dave Wiggins.
Riders had used their air-time to perform stunts including the ‘back flip’, ‘look back heart attack’, ‘holly grab’, ‘switch blade’, ‘kiss of death’, ‘dead body’ and more.
Also included in the evening was a mini-bike speed and style freestyle competition and race and the UK’s number one street bike rider showing off the latest street bike tricks while off-track entertainment was a local rock band, professional dancers, fire breathers and the ‘Bolddog Babes’ brolly girls.
Birch, nicknamed Swampy, is one of the main riders for Red Bull X-Fighters Exhibition Tours. He next rides at the Extreme Freestylers Tour in Paris on Saturday.
