Since winning the National Schools Regatta last year Nick Copsey has been sailing a new boat, but continues to enjoy success.
Last month he won the Under-21 Inland Championship and, over the May Bank Holiday, took part in the National 12 championships at Brixham.
The fleet included some of the best adult helms in the country and Copsey achieved an impressive ninth overall after seven races, which would have been an even better result if he had managed to finish the Burton Cup race when only nine boats reached the end due to very strong winds.
Even a last-place finish in that race would have been enough for fifth overall.
The highlight of the event was a very impressive second in the last race following on from a third and two sixth-place finishes.
Timothy Lupton, who is a year younger than Copsey and lives in Bury St Edmunds, also took part and finished a respectable 29th.
This would also have been better, but for a broken rudder stock in the Burton Cup race.
