WITH the weather changeable this week at Blackdyke Trout Fishery, the fish have switched between buzzers, small nymphs and, on warmer days, small dries.

Carl Ward had his best brown to date, which was returned safely.

Tim Gaunt Taylor will be holding a parent and child course, on August 26. Telephone the lodge on 07525 730447 to book a place. Under-16s can fish all day at the club, sharing an adult’s full day ticket.

n THE fishing has picked up again after an inconsistent couple of weeks.

However, methods are widely variable, one day will see the fish on top taking dries and the next on intermediate or slow sink on large fluffy objects 10 feet down.

A number of better fish in the 4-8lb range have been taken this week, the best being a beautiful rainbow of around 11lb, which was returned.

A brown trout of 8lb was caught and returned twice in an hour.

Both lakes are clear with light hatches of mayfly still coming off.
