The Bury Saints are one step away from reaching the top tier of American football in the UK.

On Sunday, the team host the Sandwell Steelers in the Division One National semi-final at Thetford Rugby Club (2pm).

Victory will earn the side a spot in the Division One National Championship game and a place
in the BAFANL Premiership.

Following Saints’ 35-0 victory over the Yorkshire Rams on Sunday, head coach Christian Cantrill said: “For seven months we have grinded and worked for this very moment — the chance to represent our community at the highest level of football.

“The Rams were a very dangerous team and my assistant coaches and I worked very hard to prepare for the game. The players executed our plan brilliantly.

“We know Sunday will be an uphill task against a very good team in Sandwell.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we have accomplished to date, but we are not finished and look to bring another championship to Suffolk.”

Sandwell Steelers arrive as last year’s Division Two Northern Champions.
