Great British kayaking duo Andrew Brinkley and Jenifer McGaley have returned after taking on the world’s top freestyle athletes at the Freestyle World Championships, both with promising displays.

For 24-year-old Brinkley, from Great Barton and a former member of Sudbury Canoe Club, the Championships, dubbed as the ultimate white-
water event in Bryson
City, North Carolina, USA, may not have resulted in the top-10 finish he had been targeting, but a 14th place out of 75, still
represents a successful showing.

Competing in the K1 men’s category, Brinkley successfully navigated his way through the heats before finishing with a total of 1,468 points, taking his best scores from his three runs in the final.

Meanwhile, 16-year-old McGaley, from Horringer, near Bury and a current member of the Sudbury based club, enjoyed an impressive fifth-place finish the K1 junior women’s discipline.
