Woolpit 122 lost to

Vauxhall Mallards 126-6

by four wickets

Woolpit slipped to another defeat against Vauxhall Mallards on Saturday.

After an opening partnership of 30 between Michael Rippon and Karl Holmes, wickets fell at regular intervals as Woolpit were dismissed for just 122.

Early wickets for James Holmes and Tristian Blackledge left Mallards on 15-2 before a stand of 57 for the third wicket took the game away from Woolpit.

Rippon finished with 2-36, but Woolpit know that a bigger total on the board would have made life difficult for Mallards.

n In Marshall Hatchick Two Counties League Division Three, Brightlingsea (183-9) lost to Woolpit II (285-6) by 102 runs.

A knock of 89 from Will Parker, returning from injury, and 55 not out from Charlie Holt helped Woolpit to 285-6.

Fine figures of 5-53 in 12 overs for Will West, 14, then restricted Brightlingsea.

n In Two Counties League Division Seven, Tendring (216-7) beat Woolpit III (212-6) by three wickets.

Woolpit recovered from 38-3 thanks to 54 from Trevor Haynes and an unbeaten 95 from Josh Lecompte.

Tendring also lost early wickets but recovered so that they sneaked home with one ball spare.

n In the Two Counties Ladies Challenge, Woolpit Ladies (124-2) beat Thriplow Ladies (123-8) by eight wickets.

Thriplow Ladies were held to just 123-8 with Charlotte Mincher taking three wickets and Elllie Costin two.

Woolpit chased this down in just 22 overs for the loss of two wickets. Nat Samuels made 58 not out and Charlotte Mincher 26 not out.

n In Hunts County Bats Suffolk League Division Four, Woolpit Sunday II (136) lost to Horringer (138-2).

A sub-standard batting performance saw Woolpit dismissed for just 136 with several players getting starts but nobody scoring over 25.
