Fakenham won by seven wickets

BURY St Edmunds batted first and the home team scored a disappointing 171, four runs short of two extra batting points.

Josh Davey and Tom Huggins started well but the turning point was the loss of Huggins, caught at slip to a ball that did not seem to carry, for 55.

Chris Warn and Justin Bishop batted well but both holed out to mid on. The tail added very few runs.

Fakenham are a decent team with three Sri Lankan players that include current test player M Vandort, who scored 60. S Rodrigo was also in the runs.

Despite a break for rain, the visitors were able to score the required total.

l Bury 2nd XI played a remarkable match at Braintree, who are an experienced and strong team that posted 313 runs off their 45 overs. Viveck Rajogopal claimed three wickets.

Many teams would have been daunted by the total but, on a good track and short boundaries, the young Bury team won the admiration of the home side and supporters as they chased the big total.

Viveck (35) and Hugo Rynsard-Perry (62) batted superbly for the first wicket and Mark Nunn, after playing himself in, took the game to Braintree with a magnificent 113. Stuart Nunn remained 39no as the final wicket fell with the score on 301.

l BURY 3rd XI played at home to Maldon 2nd XI. .

Bury batted first and scored 137, which was disappointing after good contributions from Nick Curran (41), Simon Aldous and James Sturgeon.

At 118-5, it looked like the visitors may have a close finish, with good bowling from spinners Aldous and Imam. However, their middle order reached the target.

l Bury Sunday team recorded a win against Long Melford.

Batting first Bury scored 204-7, with James Sturgeon (40), S Cordell (41) and Mark Nunn (37).

In reply, Long Melford batted well but were all out for 170.

Cecil & Larter players-of-the-week were Tom Huggins, Mark Nunn and Hugo Rynsard-Perry.
