Dan Halsey, above, is determined to make up for his near miss in last year’s National League Pairs competition by going one better this time around.
Twelve months ago, the Mildenhall Fen Tigers’ skipper and his then partner Josh Bates had to settle for second in the hotly-contested event behind the triumphant Cradley Heathens duo of Ashley Morris and Lewis Blackbird.
With the 25-year-old set to partner Fen Tigers number one Joe Jacobs in this year’s competition at West Row on Sunday, confidence is high he can rectify matters.
“Getting so close to winning the competition and then missing out right at the end when it just got away from us was horrible,” said Halsey. “Without doubt, me and Joe are gunning for that victory and we should be right up there.”
n The Fen Tigers were due to travel to the King’s Lynn Young Stars in the National League today (7.30pm), but the meeting has been postponed due to the closure of the A47.
