RYMAN LEAGUE
PREMIER DIVISION
Needham Market 7 Cheshunt 0
NEEDHAM Market’s recent improving form continued in Ryman League Division One North with an impressive 7-0 victory over Cheshunt at Bloomfields on Saturday.
The home side started brightly and took the lead after 13 minutes when Lee McGlone turned and shot past keeper Tanner from an Evan’s long throw.
Needham continued to pile on the pressure, and doubled their advantage as Cheshunt’s Josh Kirby deflected Danny Bloomfield’s pass in to his own net six minutes later.
Duane Wright headed a third goal from Thrower’s corner after 25 minutes, before Bloomfield added a fourth, converting Wright’s head on from Evans’ long throw.
Evans then got his name on the scoresheet after 35 minutes with a rasping shot before Danny Thrower round off the first half onslaught, firing home a sixth from 18 yards out moments before the break.
The second half was a lot less lively affair and despite the shell shocked visitors growing into the match, they never tested the Marketmen’s stopper Liam Jones.
The rout was then completed with seven minutes to play as Sam Newson unselfishly squared the ball for substitute Deakin Napier to slot home.
Jones dirtied his kit in the 88th minute with a save from Ashwood’s free-kick as Needham finished the match in confident style.
