Walsham-le-Willows have been dealt a major blow ahead of the upcoming Thurlow Nunn Premier Division season after defender Matt Morton fractured his right arm.
The fracture, which has occurred in the same arm as Morton broke in three places last season, happened during the Willow’s 3-1 pre-season friendly success over First Division outfit Stowmarket Town.
Morton has been given a slight boost with the news he does not need surgery at this stage of his early recovery, although that could change possibly resulting in a 12 week to 18 week lay-off.
Meanwhile, Paul Smith’s charges were due to face Team Bury last night before concluding their pre-season fixture schedule by hosting Needham Market Reserves tomorrow.
Thetford Town are preparing to welcome Ryman League Division One North side AFC Sudbury to Mundford Road on Thursday. Mark Scott’s side head into the encounter on the back of a 2-1 success over Haverhill Borough on Friday.
Mildenhall Town slumped to a 5-0 defeat at Wisbech Town on Tuesday. Manager Christian Appleford will be hoping for a better display when they travel to West Wratting tomorrow.
Following their defeat to Walsham, Stowmarket Town host Hadleigh United on Tuesday, while league rivals Team Bury, who were due to face the Willows last night, will play Old Newton on Tuesday.
