Weekend round-up: Bury Town sign Jordan Patrick and advance in FA Cup
FORMER Cambridge United winger Jordan Patrick was in the stand as Bury Town disposed of Canvey Island to reach the second qualifying round of the FA Cup.
Patrick — who made 20 appearances for Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Cambridge United last season — signed for Cambridge City in the summer before being released late last week.
Having been a target for the Blues initially, the Ram Meadow outfit wasted no time in swooping to secure his signature.
Billy Clark netted twice and Sam Reed the other as Bury beat Canvey 3-0 in their FA Cup first qualifying round tie on Saturday.
Needham Market crashed out of the competition, losing 1-0 at Concord Rangers.
Meanwhile, Bury’s rugby side thrashed rivals Diss 50-6 in London One North on Saturday.
