The long-running saga involving goalkeeper Marcus Garnham is at an end after he agreed to stay at Bury Town.
Garnham — reportedly the target of several clubs, including newly-promoted Skrill Conference North outfit Lowestoft Town — is a popular figure at Ram Meadow and was named manager’s player of the season for 2013/14.
He was also named in the Ryman League Premier Division team of the year in 2012/13.
Chairman Russell Ward said: “He’s had two better offers than us, but it’s not always about money.
“I’ve explained to to him where I feel the club is going to go.
“Lots of positive things are happening behind the scenes — there’s a lot of commitment and enthusiasm and I think that has tipped the balance for him.”
Garnham added: “It was a very difficult decision because I had some good offers on the table, but this is right for me.
“People are going to write us off this year, but I think we’ll surprise a few.”
