Tuesday round-up: Bury Town’s play-off push reignited

POINTING THE WAY: Sam Reed

Sam Reed scored twice as Bury Town won at title-chasing Wealdstone to close the gap on the play-off places to just three points.

The Blues took advantage of defeats for Margate and Met Police, as well as a draw for Canvey Island, to move up to seventh in the Ryman League Premier Division.

After Reed’s opener, Wealdstone struck twice just after half-time to lead, but Reed’s second goal and John Sands’ winner — his 30th goal of the season — swung the game in the favour of the Suffolk side.

Meanwhile, in the Thurlow Nunn League, Mildenhall Town lost 1-0 at Wisbech Town in the Premier Division and Team Bury were beaten 3-1 by Ipswich Wanderers in the First Division.

Needham Market travel to Waltham Forest tonight in Ryman One North.
