Thurlow Nunn preview: Team Bury looking for winning start

TEAM Bury are aiming to hit the ground running with a win away to Ipswich Wanderers tomorrow (3pm) in their first Thurlow Nunn League First Division fixture of the season.

They will travel to Felixstowe and Walton United on August 11 (3pm) to start their FA Cup campaign.

Ross Wilding has a depleted squad from last year as half of the team has left including last season’s captain Sam Peters.

Also leaving will be Harry Barker, who scored three goals last season.

However, top goalscorer Adam Burroughs will stay for 2012/13 campaign after impressing for Bury Town in pre-season.

With help from West Suffolk College they will be able to draft more players in with new students joining the college this year.

It is ‘early days’ and ‘time will tell’ if Wilding’s men will improve on their finish from last year of 10th.

Wilding wants to have a good start to the season and to do so Wilding has admitted his new side will need to be ‘settled’ and will have to get into ‘habit’ early.

Players like Ross Bailey, Ryan Taylor and Liam Wales will want to make an impression to hopefully get the call-up for Bury Town.

Wilding also said that his team ‘have played a lot of games together’ through pre-season and with the youth College team.

Pre-season has gone very well for the youngsters, beating Cranes Sports 3-2 and they put in a good performance to win 3-1 against AFC Sudbury.
