Mark Morsley is confident the return of Michael Brothers can help give Needham Market the edge over their promotion chasing rivals this season.
The powerful forward could be set go straight into the Marketmen’s starting line-up tomorrow at play-off chasing Ware (3pm) after joining on a two-year deal from Ryman League Division One North rivals Brightlingsea Regent.
And having previously made a good impression at Bloomfields towards the end of last season before joining Leiston in the summer, Morsley is delighted to bolster his striking options.
“There is no harm in having as many options as possible if we are to continue challenging,” he said. “Michael will help us to do that and that will be a big advantage for us going forward.”
Needham saw their title aspirations dented as they let slip a 2-0 lead to Great Wakering Rovers, settling for a 2-2 draw, to leave them three points clear at the top of the table having played three more games than Harlow Town.
With a hectic festive period looming, Morsley — who could be without captain Kem Izzet for a few weeks after hospital treatment — is keen for his side to go on a winning run.
“Usually the sides that challenge for promotion hit form around the winter months and so we will have to see if we can do likewise,” he added.
