AFC Hornchurch 0
Bury Town 0
A second goalless draw in four days gave Bury a deserved point after being reduced to 10 men for the last 10 minutes on Tuesday.
Neither side created a clear chance until the 15th minute when Ade Yusuff got clear of the Bury defence, only to be denied by a good block from Marcus Garnham.
Two minutes later, Bury were lucky not to concede in a frantic goalmouth scramble.
Hornchurch continued to have the balance of play, but were unable to further trouble Garnham as the Bury defence held firm.
The Blues’ best effort came on the half-hour-mark when good work down the left by Billy Clark and Seb Dunbar ended when the latter’s deep cross was headed wide by Richard Logan at the far post.
At the other end, Garnham tipped over a good effort by Joey May, but Bury went closest when Elliot Styles nearly headed into his own net.
The second half started in lively fashion as Garnham made a fine diving save from Yusuff and, at the other end, Inigo Echepare produced an equally good stop from John Sands.
Bury were unable to maintain their pressure and the game returned to a dour midfield battle.
On 82 minutes, Bury were reduced to 10 men when Taylor Nathaniel was sent off for a second bookable offence.
However, Echepare still had to make another fine save from Billy Clark’s free-kick to ensure the scoreline remained blank.
Bury: Garnham, Short, Dunbar, Whight, Bailey-Dennis, Bullard, Semple (Nathaniel 66), Bridges, Logan (Taylor 72), Sands, Clark. Subs not used: Bailey, Kennedy, Fenner.
