Fans’ favourite Sam Reed turned down a higher league club to make a permanent comeback to the relegated Blues this week, having rejoined them on dual registration terms from Biggleswade Town for the final five games of last season.
And Chenery also tied up a deal yesterday to make former Needham Market and Ipswich Town Academy teenage talent Ace Howell his fourth signing, after Bradley Barber and Ollie Hughes.
Both are set to add an exciting mix of goals and creativity, with striker Reed looking to re-create his trophy-filled six years at Bury while attacking midfielder Howell is hoping to show what he can do after being released by Ipswich.
“Ace Howell is an emerging talent with a lot of ability who can impact games and I think he will get supporters on their feet,” said Chenery.
Reed struggled with a knee injury last season, making just two goalless appearances back at the club.
But Chenery said he has looked sharp in the club’s opening week of pre-season training.
“Getting Sam back is great news and with him, Ollie Hughes, Remi Garrett and David Lampshire hopefully there are goals in the team,” he added.
