Norwich against Ipswich in the play-off semi-final with the winners of the biggest East Anglian Derby in a generation heading to Wembley; could the stakes get much higher?

It’s what faces Alex Neil’s side over the coming week, with the derby double header starting at Portman Road tomorrow.

For me, playing Ipswich over two legs, as opposed to a potential final, suits us more.

Without being disrespectful, City possess far greater quality in the midfield areas, and with 180 minutes of football to be played, I would expect them to come out on top of what is bound to be a battle.

I think Mick McCarthy will know his side need to get something out of their home leg and I expect them to provide a direct, physical threat to our back four.

Should they be able to stand to that test, I think the key man to lead the charge for City will be Nathan Redmond.

His pace and skill offer City a serious threat going forward and with Ipswich looking to put us under pressure, he is certainly the man to exploit the gaps on the counter.

Redmond showed in the 4-2 win against Fulham, by scoring one and claiming two assists, that there is also the end product to go with it.

At times he has received criticism for his lack of productivity but the statistics speak for themselves and his 12 assists over the season puts him third in that respective Championship table.

Although City finished eight points ahead of Ipswich and completed the league double over them, make no mistakes, it is going to be a difficult tie.

But City are unbeaten on the road in 11 games and if we can concentrate on our own performance and not the magnitude of the tie, there is no reason we cannot bring an advantage to Carrow Road.

Alex Neil will have no problem getting the team psyched for the games, and with Wembley and a potential return to the Premier League just around the corner, it is time for someone to make themselves a hero – bring it on.
