Needham Market defender Keiran Morphew has not been offered a contract at Ipswich Town.
The 22-year-old, who has recently been on trial at the Sky Bet Championship club, played 90 minutes for Ipswich’s Under-21s on Monday night.
It was the Needham academy graduate’s second appearance for Town’s Under-21s this season, after he had impressed in their 1-0 win against QPR at Playford Road last month.
Morphew was called back by Ipswich’s first team manager Mick McCarthy for a trial, which was delayed until last week after the Marketmen’s players’ player of the year picked up an injury while playing for the Ryman League Premier Division side.
After being brought back to fitness under the watchful eye of the Tractor Boys last month, Morphew returned to action for Ipswich’s Under-21s in their 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest at Portman Road.
Morphew now prepares for a crucial Easter weekend with Needham as they get set to host Bognor Regis Town on Saturday (3pm) and then travel to Canvey Island on Monday (3pm).
