Thetford Town and Mildenhall Town will both be looking to bounce back from their Emirates FA Cup defeats on Saturday when they return to league action this weekend.
Danny White’s Brecklanders let a one-goal lead slip as they lost 2-1 at United Counties League Premier Division side Harrowby United on Saturday.
Robbie Priddle netted his third goal in two games to give Thetford the lead after five minutes, before Harrowby struck twice in the second half to dump the visitors out of the tournament at the extra preliminary round stage.
n Thetford were boosted ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup tie by the signing of former Norwich City midfielder Cameron King.
The FA Youth Cup winner ended his contract early with the Sky Bet Championship club last season and went straight into the starting line-up for his hometown club when they took on Harrowby at the weekend.
However, Thetford have missed out on re-signing last season’s top goalscorer Shaun Hunsdon, who has instead dropped down a division to sign for Diss Town.
Thetford now continue their Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division campaign when they visit Swaffham Town tonight (7.45pm) and then host Gorleston on Tuesday (7.45pm).
n Meanwhile, Mildenhall are preparing for their first home games of the season as they entertain Great Yarmouth Town on Saturday (3pm) and Walsham-le-Willows on Tuesday (7.45pm).
A second-half strike from Craig Calver condemned the Hall to a 1-0 defeat against league rivals Saffron Walden in the FA Cup last Saturday afternoon.
n There was also FA Cup heartache for Walsham-le-Willows, who were beaten by Kirkley & Pakefield in a replay.
The first match on the Suffolk coast ended 0-0, with Kirkley advancing in the second game thanks to a last-minute goal and a 2-1 victory.
The Willows now turn their focus to their first Premier Division games of the new season.
Paul Smith’s men visit Stanway Rovers tomorrow (3pm), before travelling to Mildenhall on Tuesday (7.45pm).
