NEEDHAM Market manager Danny Laws has stated his sole focus is to maintain his side’s winning form ahead of their top-of-the-table clash against Grays Athletic at Bloomfields tomorrow (3pm).
The Marketmen continued their impressive recent form, stretching their consecutive winning run to seven in Ryman League Division one North with a 4-0 victory away to Waltham Abbey on Saturday.
Grays Athletic’s 1-1 draw away to Harlow Town on Tuesday night kept Needham top of the league by virtue of their superior goal difference and although victory tomorrow would put them three points clear of their second-placed opponents, Laws refused to focus on league standings.
“I don’t like to focus on the league table or other teams because to me it is irrelevant,” he said.
“We know we are playing one of the better teams in the league, but I am more focused on my squad continuing to grow as a group and maintaining our strong form.
“We are fully aware how strong a side Grays are because they led from the front for the majority of the season but we are motivated and we will be hopeful of maintaining our form.”
Laws will have a fully fit and well rested squad to chose from after facing no midweek game and despite conceding the already billed early season title decider as a ‘big challenge’, the manager has no fears over his players becoming over awed by the occasion.
He commented: “I am confident they will rise to any challenge they face, because we are going in the right direction.”
