Mildenhall Town manager Christian Appleford has started the rebuilding process of his squad with a host of new signings.
With the new Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division campaign looming, Appleford has been busy to secure three signings with former Walsham-le-Willows midfielder Ryan Foster making a return to the club, along with Ely City defender Chris Sterecki and Needham Market youngster Harrison Ford, who joins on loan.
And ahead of a visit from Soham Town on Tuesday (7.45pm) to open Hall’s pre-season fixture list, the manager was delighted with his acquisitions and confirmed more new faces could follow.
“Ryan Foster was one of my major targets this summer and I’m thrilled he’s signed,” he said. “I’ve always been an admirer of his, he fits our philosophy of how we want to play and will be a major boost.”
Appleford’s charges have been handed a home encounter for the opening day of the new season against Brantham Athletic.
Other notable fixtures will see the club welcome Newmarket Town to Recreation Way on December 27 before ending the season at home to Ipswich Wanderers on May 2.
In the FA Cup extra preliminary round on August 16, Mildenhall host Gorleston Town, while in the FA Vase first qualifying round (September 6), the club face a trip to Eynesbury Rovers.
Walsham-le-Willows returned to training last Thursday before hosting Debenham LC for their first pre-season friendly at Summer Road last night.
The Willows — who entertain Bury Town on Tuesday (7.45pm) — are close to announcing more new signings for next season after having players back together for the first time last week.
Walsham will travel to Boston Town in the extra preliminary round on August 16 and host either Godmanchester Rovers or St Neots Town Youth and Saints in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase on October 4.
Smith’s team travel to Ely City on the opening day of the Thurlow Nunn Premier season (August 9) and finish at home to FC Clacton on May 2.
Thetford Town began their pre-season programme with a 2-1 victory against Anglian Combination Premier side Dersingham on Tuesday, with Bruno Tavares and new signing Mihails Propustins on target.
The Brecklanders host the Ryman League Division One North’s Wroxham tonight (7.45pm) before entertaining Mundford on Tuesday (7.30pm).
Mark Scott’s side were boosted by the news that last season’s top scorer Luke Catchpole had re-signed for the club earlier this week, while former captain Ashley Thompson is set to return.
Thetford have been drawn at home to Swaffham Town in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on August 16 and will host Ely City in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase on September 6.
They will open their league campaign where they finished last season — at FC Clacton on August 9 — and have derbies with Diss Town scheduled for December 27 (away) and April 6 (home) before ending at Stanway Rovers on May 2.
Stowmarket Town start their pre-season fixtures with a trip to Suffolk and Ipswich League Senior Division side Grundisburgh on Wednesday (7pm).
Town boss Rick Andrews said: “The new players have settled in really well and I’m just looking forward to next Wednesday now.”
They have been drawn at home to the Essex Senior League’s Eton Manor in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase on October 4.
Team Bury are set for two trips to Peterborough Northern Star, who they in the extra preliminary round of the FA Cup on August 16 and the second qualifying round of the FA Vase on October 4.
