England Under-23 defender Grace McCatty was the
special guest as 12 girls teams took part in a tournament hosted by Sporting 87.

The Bristol Academy player not only presented the participant awards, but also ran a technical training session and even demonstrated her refereeing skills.

Sporting 87 football development manager and club secretary Jonathan Warnock said: “It’s been a wonderful day — so good to see nearly 100 girls playing and learning together in this county event.

“Grace has just been wonderful with everyone — we’ve been so fortunate to have her with us today.”

Any girls interested in joining the Sporting 87 set-up should contact club chairman Darren Brown on 07772 781404 or email Darren.Brown@Sporting87.co.uk

n Bury Town Under-18s’ adventure in the FA Youth Cup came to an end at the hands of Dagenham and Redbridge Under-18s at Ram Meadow on Monday night.

A crowd of 102 turned up to watch the Football League Daggers’ youth outfit advance with a 3-0 victory thanks to a brace from Jon Nouble, which followed Montana Stewart’s opener.

n Harrison Ford, John Carver, Ace Howell, Ben Hope (all Needham Market) and Tevan Allen (Bury Town) have been selected for Suffolk Under-18s’ fixture with Bedfordshire at Hadleigh United’s Millfield ground on Thursday, November 14.

Bury duo Alfie Coldron and Alfie Bedingham, as well as Needham’s Jordi Dye, are on standby.

n Brandon Lasses Under-15s defeated Norwich City Girls 6-1 in our match of the week.

Ellesse Masters netted the opening two goals for Brandon — the first after Ruby Robertson’s free-kick rebounded to her and the second following a fine passing move between Sam Cole and Millie Bales, who went on to add her own brace.

Cole was also on target, but a much-improved Norwich pulled a goal back after the break when Katie Amacker, who had made an excellent double save, could not prevent the second rebound being netted.

Georgia Dargan completed the scoring, while there were also strong performances from Leah Zawiasa, Ciona Giles, Georgia Wiseman Lawlor, Chloe Slater, Amy Skipp and Emily Grant.

Red Lodge Under-14s continued their unbeaten run with a 7-1 win at Hundon.

Ryan Collis’ double had Red Lodge 2-0 ahead at the break, which was added to by Harry Harding, Curtis Grinling and Kieran Hayden.

Collis bagged two more to complete a four-goal haul, while Jess Linger and Charlie Craig helped to dominate midfield.
