Thurston Under-16s got their season off to a flying start by racking up double figures at Stradbroke in our match of the week.
Ben Frost and Hugo Grayling each netted four goals, while there were further strikes from Sam Shepherd and James Stark.
Lawrence Porter was named man of the match for Thurston, while Jordan Boulton and Jay Rogers were among those who teed up the strikes.
Bury Town Under-15s went down 8-1 at last year’s league champions Lakenheath, but the Blues gave them problems.
Ethan Radford and George Sanders forced a double save from Lakenheath keeper Ollie Froud before Radford’s fierce inswinging corner was kept out.
Bury finally netted a consolation following good work by Sanders on the left wing.
He played in Tom Manning, who saw his shot saved, but Jake Paxton pounced on the loose ball to prod home.
Aimee Frost hit a hat-trick as Thetford Bulldog Belles Under-14s defeated North Walsham 10-0.
Melissa Boulton, Shannon Richardson and player-of-the-match Hannah Rogers bagged a brace apiece, while Jordan Hunter also netted.
Jess Horn’s clinical passing was also a feature of the Belles’ victory, as was precise tackling from Mia Arnold and Lauren Stannard.
Olivia Baker was on fine form and unlucky not to score, while Horn twice hit the post.
Bury Town Girls Under-13s kicked off the new Suffolk Girls’ and Women’s League season with a 4-1 triumph at Belstead United Girls.
New recruits Nina Grant and Mariam Bader were involved, while Grace Clancy and Ellie Allen were a threat to the hosts’ defence.
Ellie Costin found the bottom corner to open the scoring and Niamh Matthews-Green converted a slick passing move to double their advantage.
Belstead got a goal back, but Georgia Parker’s hard work and pace started two fine passing moves that were converted by Niamh Matthews-Green and Clementine Key to give the Blues a deserved away victory.
Walsham-le-Willows Under-13s recorded two victories to start their Eastern Junior Alliance campaign in style.
Daniel Bean and Jordan Paddy fired the Willows to a 2-1 victory over Bishop’s Stortford — a game in which Will Egglestone broke his arm — before Daniel Legget (two), Josh Tysoe, Jake Preston and Josh Hughes fired them to a 5-0 success at Woodbridge Town.
