HONINGTON Foxes Under-10s swept the board at the recent Stradbroke five-a-side tournament with the A and B sides meeting each other in the final.
The two teams were selected not strictly as A and B teams but as two equal line-ups and, as it turned out, there was nothing to choose between the two teams, dubbed Force Force (A) and Fleet Foxes (B) as they qualified through the round-robin section in second and fourth places respectively.
Fleet Foxes, who sneaked through to the semi finals on goal difference, raised their game to knock out home favourite Stradbroke on penalties to make the final while Fox Force went through against Diss Town playing some fine football on the way to booking their place in the all Honington showdown.
The final was fiercely contested, with Fleet Foxes taking an early lead thanks to Logan Trench, which only served to increase the intensity of the game.
Samuel Sprigings thought he had levelled just before half time, but the referee ruled his foot was inside the area.
However, Fox Force eventually broke through late in the second half when Sprigings got his goal with a late equaliser.
Extra time failed to produce a conclusive result with both keepers, Josh Sinnett and Jordan Standring outstanding between the sticks, forcing the shoot out to sudden death, with Fox Force prevailing.
Player of the tournament Fox Force (A): Joel Phillips.
Player of the tournament Fleet Foxes (B) Louis Amond.
