Dismal displays in FA Cup result in eliminations
IT was a disappointing weekend for the region’s football teams with three sides crashing out of this season’s FA Cup in the extra preliminary round.
Thurlow Nunn Premier Division side Mildenhall Town suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away to Brantham Athletic while league rivals Walsham-le-Willows were comfortably beaten at home 3-1 by Burnham Ramblers.
There was also disappointment for Team Bury with Ross Wildings side suffering a 3-1 loss away to Felixstowe & Walton United.
Meanwhile in the cricket, Bury St Edmunds had to settle to for share of the spoils away to Great Witchingham following a general draw in their East Anglian Premier League clash.
This was despite a strong performance from captain Tom Huggins in which he claimed five wickets as the home side batted first to post a total of 198-8, before hitting his way to 67 as Bury responded with 157-7.
