Billy Clark believes interim manager Ben Chenery is the right man to take the hotseat at Bury Town.
Seventeen applicants registered their interest in the manager’s position at the Blues before yesterday’s deadline — which has since been whittled down to three — and chairman Russell Ward hopes to announce who has got the job by midday tomorrow.
But Clark — who made three appearances for Ipswich Town before moving to Ram Meadow — believes Ward does not need to look any further than Chenery, who he feels can help the Blues can progress if given the job permanently.
“I’ve spoken to Cheners and what he’s saying makes me confident we’ll do better than last year,” said Clark. “I don’t see any reason why we can’t do as well as Bury have before, which is make the play-offs.
“Ben knows what he wants to do and I’ve enjoyed working with him, so there’s no reason why he won’t be a good choice.”
