Ipswich Town fans’ favourite Fabian Wilnis is set to open Cedars Park’s new pitch prior to playing in an Ipswich versus Norwich legends charity match on it in Stowmarket on Sunday (3pm).

Cedars Park FC will have the honour of playing the
first-ever game on the newly-laid turf at Cedars Park Community Centre in Pintail Road, with a friendly against AFC Hoxne (12pm) before the main event to raise funds for the NSPCC.

More than 650 tickets had already been sold by the start of the week, with Wilnis,
Kieron Dyer, John Wark,
Gavin Johnson and Neil Gregory set to play for the Ipswich team.

Darren Eadie, Leon Mckenzie, Ruel Fox, Damien Francis and Dean Holdsworth are set to play for the Norwich side.

Jade Mayjean Peters, from The Voice, will sing afterwards, while Soccer AM’s Frankie Fryer will take part in a charity auction.

Stowmarket resident Lee Godfree, who runs portable programme holder business Fabprobags took on the idea with his business partners Wilnis and Simon Horswill after being approached with the idea by their Santander bank account manager Ross Chambers, and is encouraging people to turn up in their Ipswich and Norwich shirts.

Admission with tickets, available from Suffolk Santander branches and the community centre itself, is £3 and £1 for under-16s, while entrance on the day will be £5 for adults and £1 for under-16s. Limited parking is available at the adjacent Cedars Park Primary School.
